In response to a 1996 article, columnist, John Tierney, who titled his article with, “recycling is garbage”. Argued the point that recycling has done nothing but put an obsession in media and public about the importance of recycling and how some are taking it to far with the acts of trying “to save the world”.

It would be hard to disagree on the facts when he states about the forced laws on certain states to recycle,”  Most states set rigid quotas, typically requiring that at least 40 percent of trash be recycled, often even more — 50 percent in New York and California, 60 percent in New Jersey, 70 percent in Rhode Island.” John said. State and city officials  thought that by building recycling organizations would be less expensive than the collection of waste and disposing it into landfills.

All though John makes an excellent point on how recycling can be cost effective to the population and how federal government along with E.P.A are forcing the extensive achievement to meet the goal for states to accomplish by recycling.It brings the perspective to mind that recycling isn’t the most important deed to follow.

Recycling is benefited to help improve the depletion of natural resources and puts people in the positive view on how recycling structures on how we throw away our waste. With the experience of knowing how to recycle properly with your trash is a sure advantage to reducing pollution and toxic waste into landfills.

After John’s article was published, The natural resources defense council and environmental defenses reacted instantly to what John had to say about their recycling programs. “Due to the increased workload of hauling away and disposing of New York’s trash. As a result, the benefits of recycling glass and plastic increased and glass and plastic recycling became economically viable for the city again.”

The environmental protection agency and other environmental organizations also acknowledged the cost-effect of recycling, but when the shut down of another landfill increased the funds to collect and dispose of trash. It affected people by starting to realize the needed source to recycle.

What John’s article tried to debate where the factors of money loss and the objection to conform to the worrisome about not reusing a piece of paper or gum wrapper. His argument goes deep within detail on the unnecessary consumption to recycle and not to be so arrogant about environmental issues, but there is a grave importance on the line where recycling has gained a lot of international success with the productivity of people getting involved with the environment. It has brought a sense of compassion towards people on how they should care about the world and not take advantage of the privilege of acting against pollution.

Acknowledging the brilliance that many geniuses such as, Albert Einstein and Issac Newton have discovered through the world of physics, our generation today wouldn’t be able to succeed in the direction that where in now. We’ve made it possible to go beyond and accomplish the aspects of physics.

As you start to think about the wonders of physics it will give you an enlightenment of  discovery. Physics is about the experimental sciences that we observe in the natural world. What things are made of , where do we come from, and how things are made, all consists the idea of physics. With all of the enticing facts on how much a rave can be an adventure,  a lot of parents and guardians are ignorant of the disturbing consequences towards the experience that their young teen will have at a rave.  A rave is a party that is meant to last from the day to the next morning, which is more of a reason for the attendees to use drugs in order to have the increased energy to have fun the entire time. Even if the rave is advertised as a “drug-free” environment, that is never the case when many people who are at the tip of having a great time, find themselves in the emergency room, getting hospitalized for a drug overdose.

Raves have been the hype of the underground scene since the 1980′s until the recent years of the new generation of “party kids” started to rant about how the scene is the “new trend“. Since the years of massive raves started to breakthrough, such as Together As One, Monster Massive, Nocturnal Festival, and especially Electric Daisy Carnival. The music of electronic, techno, and progressive house are not only heard from someone’s play list or party, but simply can be heard on the radio. This is making  more people interested in the party scene and gives them the desire to go to a rave.

For this year’s 2010 massive rave, Electric Daisy Carnival, which is the largest music festival for the United States, has had a long run of being hosted at the Los Angeles Coliseum, Sports Arena and Exposition Park for the past 14 years. With public promotion online and billboards by Insomniac events, EDC ventured into everyone’s mind to attend the most popular rave of the year. With the trend of raves being apart of somehow in every young person’s life, EDC was the place where you had to be at. With the age limit set 16 and over, you would find young teens at the rave under the influence of some drug, mostly ecstasy.

The Electric Daisy Carnival was held for two days June 25th and 26th, where there was an account of over 200,000 people that attended this year’s rave. With the expense of so many people accompanied at EDC, there was a report of carnival go-ers that  had to be raced to the emergency room for cases of injuries from rushing gates and drug overdoses. On one special account, a 15-year-old girl who attended EDC was reported deceased after an overdose of ecstasy.

The media was all over the story of the 15-year-old overdosing at a rave mainly because it was supposed to be 16 and over age limit. With all of the beginning negative protest against raves, there is now a discretion of 18 and over with a valid ID. For the young teens its very disappointing news, but according to 24-year-old aspiring artist, Patricia Romine, who went to this year’s EDC,” Its something that they should have done a long time ago, raves aren’t meant for young kids who don’t know what to expect.” Patricia said. With all of the negative press on how raves are dangerous for teens, the aspect of a rave is something that a mature adult can fully enjoy for themselves, by forgetting all worries and stress in their lives for one night of endless fun. However, raves are considered to be dangerous on many different levels and shouldn’t be meant for the young.

My experience of having a twitter account was quite conventional to have since it would benefit the many different ways that I can be informed about breaking stories that are happening at every moment.

It comes in very handy especially when the people I’m following post interesting topics that I would want to know about.

For over the past 40 years since Ronald Regan claimed the war on drugs, there has been a budget spent of $2.5 trillion dollars, trying to keep the illegal, addicting substances off the streets from harmless people. Twenty year old, college student Gilbert Ybarra has a history of battles with the drug,”crystal meth”, and other types of illegal drugs, dealt with the consequences of being an addict.”At 15 my first drug of choice was meth, and when I snorted my first line, it all went down hill from their, I started experimenting with other drugs and started to do things that I never thought I would do. I was so lost out of my mind, until about when I was 17-18, I got so out of control I was put into treatment for my addiction. And I have to say if my family didn’t step in, I don’t know where I would be right now”.

The road to recovering from addiction is really based on the person’s willingness to wanting to change their lives because they realized that they finally hit “rock bottom“. They’ve reached a point to where they burned all bridges with their loved ones and are living in the streets with no money and food to survive on. Some addicts take it as their opportunity to regain the trust and respect from their family and friends, but for some its a reality that they completely distorted themselves from. Recovering from drug addiction is a longer road compared to the path of abusing drugs. It gets hard for the addict because they have to learn to stay clean, learn the steps on how they got to where there at and are constantly attacked by their inner demons to relapse and fall back into the same track again. Its easy to fall back into addiction, but by admitting that you need help and asking for the support from your loved ones, you can safely ride that road to recovery.

In certain parts of the world families are struggling each day to provide health care, food, water, clothing, education and even shelter for themselves. A local restaurant shift leader, Edgardo Gonzalez who always sees the daily unfortunate person at his job says,”I know that I can’t do much because I’m not rich, but whenever I notice a poor guy going through my job’s dumpster, I can’t just go on with my day not being able to something about it. That’s why I go up to the person, say hello, and give them some food or change”. Acknowledging the impact of poverty is saddening, but by donating some clothes, shoes, food, money and things you don’t need can benefit someone else misfortune.
