Gangs Taking Control Of Our Neighborhoods.

The culture of gang violence has always been a focused issue upon society. Gangs have been around for centuries before the actual criminal activity of street gangs started to occur.

Gangs come from different parts of the world with different backgrounds and race. The main force that holds them together is the endless rise in members by taking advantage of the bystanders that are frustrated and angry from the struggle of poverty. This is an easy way for gangs to gain loyalty and bond which develops into what they consider a “family”.

Gang members have specific colors and trademarks that specify which gang they are from.With the advantages of being in a gang, gangsters are able to take control of many neighborhoods, cities, states and even countries. Making it impossible for law enforcement to regulate the actions of gangsters.

The criminal activity that gangs have encountered with include rivalry with other gangs, burglary, hate crimes, graffiti and especially the smuggling of illegal drugs. The organization of some gangs have grown to be known as, mafias. Mafias are apart of a world reputation from taking a major establishment in conforming gangs across the nations and creating a loyal circle of repeated criminal acts that have been affecting the young and innocent.

Former gang member of the los angeles area, Cinthia Castro has had her experiences of what it meant to be a gangster and how it is being a former member.”I cant be in Bell Gardens or certain other places where I know my former gang is around. I’m constantly in fear when I’m in this city because I’m afraid of being seen. I fear for the life of me, my husband and especially my daughter. Back then when I used to be into it, I didn’t see things the way I do now. I would hit up people like nothing, bust stupid missions. But now I think its ridiculous that I ever did thhose things. Its pointless. And seriously there’s just too many things to appreciate in life. I guess I can say I was just having a rough time in life and needed a way to take my anger out. But I found a reason to appreciate life and that was someone who loved and showed me the better side to life.”

Gangsters have a continuous mark on recruiting young children into their gangs so their legacy can live on. With the vulnerability that children possess makes a target for those who don’t have the luxury of a loving family or are neglected in their everyday life. The children usually assume that by joining the gang they will be secured for life. They come to a belief by being in a gang, they will have wealth and stability with a lovable family, but in reality the scales that the children must go through for their gang is a nightmare to think about. These children are told to do malicious crimes that will effect the rest of their lives.

The effects of gangs have portrayed a strong reaction from people all over the world by creating a fear for some by not being able to walk down their own streets at night. From the streets of Los Angeles to Mexico, gangs have been taking a radical measure of their own people by the violent acts of murder towards their “enemies” and to the innocent who aren’t aware of the territory that gangs have. The threat that gangs image themselves is by the horrific nature that they live by, which is chaos and destruction.

In order for us people to stop the violence of gangs, we must intervien by persuading the gangsters to change their lives for the better. With creating more organizations that would teach and train gangsters on how to redeem their lives we can surely rebuild a foundation of saftey and structure for themselves and for everyone else’s saftey.
